Removing Solid Stains, Stronger, Difficult to Remove Stains
and Waterproofers From Decks
If you want to remove solid stains, you'll need to use a stain remover/stripper product like Thompson's® WaterSeal® Maximum Strength Deck Stripper. This fast-acting formula will also take off difficult to remove semi-transparent stains and tinted and clear waterproofers, while cleaning stains from dirt, mildew, algae and fungus.
Application Tips:
- Read label directions thoroughly before use.
- Test on an inconspicuous area.
- Remove all furniture and decorative items.
- Apply Thompson's® WaterSeal® Maximum Strength Deck Stripper with a synthetic bristle brush or roller or pour liberally from a plastic watering can. Do not apply through any type of spray equipment.
- Do not apply to an area larger than you can work within 10-15 minutes.
- Allow Thompson's® WaterSeal® Maximum Strength Deck Stripper to sit on the surface for no longer than 10-15 minutes. Immediately rinse any overspills with water.
- Scrub the surface with a synthetic, stiff bristle brush or broom to remove any stain or finish that does not immediately come up.
- If stubborn areas remain, repeat the application in those areas.
- Thoroughly rinse with water from a hose or pressure-washer, removing all residue.
- Use a wood brightener such as Thompson's® WaterSeal® Deck Cleaner & Brightener to neutralize the surface, allowing for the best performance of your reapplied waterproofer or stain.
Note: Your clean wood will need protection from water damage after cleaning. It is always best to wait 2-3 days, depending on weather conditions, for the wood to dry thoroughly before applying a Thompson's® WaterSeal® oil-based waterproofer or stain. For other products like Thompson's® WaterSeal® Advanced waterproofers, you can apply the waterproofer after only a few hours. Use Thompson's® WaterSeal® waterproofers and stains to protect your wood from the elements and provide the highest level of waterproofing protection available.
